Geriatric Medicine is part of the Department of Clinical & Surgical Sciences. With the help of NHS colleagues throughout Central and Southern Scotland, Geriatric Medicine is taught to all undergraduates in the final year of the medical curriculum. Groups of about 20 students are attached full-time to Geriatric Medicine for four-week periods.  These modules comprise an intensive introductory seminar course followed by practical tuition at various locations. Staff also contribute to the teaching of students in Years 1 and 4 as well as to the research training of Specialist Registrars in Geriatric Medicine.
